Getting Ready

Exactly one week until I make the big move. Ive lived away from home before, but this will be a whole new experience for me. Fort Ware is a native reserve in Northern BC with a population of under 300. There is one store there where you can buy some groceries and other items, but not many of the teachers shop there because the prices are very high. I will be ordering groceries from a catalouge and have them shipped in from Prince George, once a week on a truck. Apparently, this is the cheapest way to go.
There are no pubs, no liqour store, no clothing stores, no gym, etc. There is a young guy who teaches Taekwondo, so I think I will be learning how to kick some butt while I'm there. It will be a good way for me to keep in shape and stay active.
Kobie (my dog) will be coming with me and we've been getting ready for the move. Kobie went to the vet and got neutered this week. He's six years old but I decided it would be eaiser for him because on the reserve there are a lot of dogs and no one believes in tying them up there and there is no vet. Having Kobie neutered will help with agression and wandering/roaming, etc. He is still recovering slowly. He doesnt' seem to be in pain but is still very swollen; still looking like he never got anything cut off at all :/ .
I have been packing and trying to put together a long range plan. I dont even know where to start when it comes to planning and how things will go in the classroom. I'm hoping it will go smoother than I imagine. I am stressed about planning, assessment, report cards, classroom management...the whole 9!! Ugh! But every teacher has to start somewhere, and I'm sure these feelings and fears are totally normal. We will see how things go as the year progresses.
I will update in another week or so when I arrive in BC. Stay tuned....
